At the The end of every Udaan I think I will not write anything but it’s never the case, the memories within me last much longer…
This time’s Udaan was much different, it has gone to next level in terms of attendance, timeliness and emotional spirit of friendship.
First of all the batch was superb and the way they started everything was amazing.
The treasure hunt was as usual the best and the most important attraction and life-changer.
We started from the campus by putting five shot glasses which were filled with yellow coloured water. I announced to everyone that this is the most pious and healthy water and who whoever drinks it will get 10 minutes extra, they all started shouting that “arrey thats gau mutra…” and so everyone believed it so, still five ppl came forward and gulped it in one second and then i said that it was not “gau mutra”, it was actually green tea in which haldi was mixed, it was prepared by wife 🙂
I am sure you have heard the radio clip – it featured “on air” real time with the words “S P Jain”, “Beshkimati Tycoon” & “Udaan”… One more remarkable achievement was – more than one girl did polish of shoes of strangers. They danced on juhu beach and they danced encircling the pole of traffic light… they managed to convince a police wala and sit in a police van… some student called their father for sitting in the police van, if they could help and the father responded, gandi thai gai che 🙂 … I can go on… but no let me stop here…
I had conveyed to the teams that : Think Plan & Act… they understood the message and most of the teams managed to do many tasks, however not that everyone wins, so it takes time for them to digest it, but none of the teams took it at heart, rather they came up with greater fighting spirit.
The five teams were:
Beshkimati Tycoons
Jugadists
Plucky Pirates
Sweat Bleeders
The Young Turks
Today started with the bidding game, which was introduced for the first time. Then the global business plan, in which each team had to come up with a business idea in five countries respectively – Cuba, Azerbaijan, Chez Republic, Russia and Myanmar. Each team had put in intense effort and had done reasonably deep research within the time they had. The best part is – all teams make the business plan as close to reality as possible and in this process they learn about other countries and the possibilities of doing business together. They also learn about other persons business and also see the possibilities of aligning together.
Then we had the drama, which was based on five families – Ambani, K M Birla, R P Goenka, Bajaj and Godrej. Each team made sure that the story telling was perfect and they also made sure that the facts were correct. There were some minor glitches in facts, but thats ok, so long as the larger picture is perfect. Sir, this activity has come up remarkably well and with tremendous opportunity to learn.
And then came dance, which was based on five film stars – Dharmendra, Shammi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Dev Anand. The most remarkable thing that happened is that one team whose audio file just stopped at 4 mins 14 seconds with another 46 seconds to go, the entire hall started singing that song and the team contained to dance… Sir, its a crazy scene… a scene that just takes you a different world of friendship, love and also care…
Sir, I sometimes feel that our program would be actually incomplete without Udaan… it does take away sizeable time and effort, but I feel that on the last (second day) the heart feels tremendously contented and accomplished, life couldn’t be better than this…
We were blessed by the presence of three alumni – Khushali, Rashi & Raj.
